Yes. Waffle can call Triple Zero (000) directly. Emergency calling is on by default and can't be turned off — it works even during school hours, quiet hours, and any parent-set restrictions.
On Waffle Go, your child presses and holds the call button and power button together for 5 seconds — when SOS appears, they press the call button.
On Waffle Home, they dial 000 on the handset keypad. Your child speaks directly with the emergency operator, and the Waffle Parent Hub sends you a push notification the moment the call connects — with the time, the device's location, and that 000 was called.
Waffle needs an internet connection (WiFi or mobile data) to call 000. Always keep a working phone available and make sure your child knows how to call 000 from any phone — Waffle is a communication device, not a substitute for emergency services.
Yes. As soon as a Triple Zero (000) call connects, the Waffle Parent Hub sends you a push notification with the time, the device's location, and that 000 was called. It's sent in parallel with the call, so it never delays your child reaching the operator.

Nothing to switch on — emergency calling works out of the box and can't be turned off.
Waffle does need an internet connection to reach 000: Waffle Go uses WiFi or mobile data, and Waffle Home uses WiFi only (it has no cellular fallback, so it can't call 000 if your WiFi is down). In areas of poor mobile coverage, a call may not connect.
